SWEET SANCTUARY (KIM VOGEL SAWYER)

Story Description:

Baker Publishing Group|April 1, 2013|Trade Paperback|ISBN: 978-0-7642-0789-1

Lydia Eldredge longs to provide a sanctuary for her son, Nicky.  But a constant threat comes from Nicky’s drug-addicted father, who wants the boy and seems willing to do whatever it takes to get him.

Dr. Micah Hatcher serves the immigrant population in Queens, but under cover of darkness he provides another service that must not be discovered lest his and his brother’s lives be in danger.

When Lydia and Micah’s paths cross, they are suddenly wrapped up in each other’s callings.  Through unforeseen twists and turns, they seek a refuge of safety – for Nicky, for themselves, and for the needy people God unexpectedly puts in their lives.

My Review:

I absolutely fell in love with this story.  Lydia Eldredge and her young son, Nicky deserved to live a good life.  She lived with her parents but her father was a very brusque man.  He wasn’t a happy man or at peace with himself inside until he got to know Dr. Micah Hatcher, that is.

Lydia and Nicky are under an ongoing threat from Nicky’s father, Nic, who is a severe drug addict.  He had an ulterior motive for wanting little Nicky, not because he wanted full-time custody and to be a good father to the boy.

When Lydia travels she meets a physician named Micah Hatcher who is a truly wonderful man.  He has such a good heart and helps his brother, a minister, with an important mission from Russia.  Little do Lydia and Micah know that their meeting is going to change both their lives forever, but what happens to, Nic and little Nicky will surprise you.

Kim Vogel Sawyer’s Sweet Sanctuary is truly “sweet” and I’m keeping this one as part of my permanent collection.
